# Acupuncture for Achilles Tendinopathy

Stiffness and pain along the back of the heel build slowly —

and they ease the same way, with the right plan.

Achilles tendinopathy presents as pain, stiffness, or thickening along the back of the heel, often worse with the first steps after rest and during push-off activities like running, jumping, or climbing stairs.

## Why It Happens

The Achilles tendon absorbs forces several times your body weight with every stride. When training load increases faster than the tendon can adapt — or when calf strength, ankle mobility, or footwear changes shift the load — the tendon breaks down faster than it can repair.

## How We Treat It

We combine acupuncture and dry needling along the tendon and calf complex to reduce pain and stimulate the tendon's healing response, with fascial and manual therapy to restore ankle mobility and calf strength. We also treat up the kinetic chain — the knee, hip, and the fascial planes connecting them — since foot and hip mechanics often play a bigger role in Achilles overload than people expect.

## What to Expect

Achilles tendinopathy is notoriously slow to resolve on its own, but responds well to consistent treatment — typically weekly visits for 8–10 weeks, paired with a loading program to rebuild tendon resilience.
